Early 2024, Tonbridge - Bespoke Wardrobe
For this lovely returning customer, we previously created a study and laundry cabinet and were asked to design fitted wardrobes for their loft and master bedroom.

We designed a bespoke wardrobe with a dressing room area for added functionality. A custom slatted oak panel was added to the large opening, creating a stylish, open feel without compromising space.
The shaker-style drawers with elegant beading and oak internals provide both sophistication and practical, floor-to-ceiling storage. Integrated LED lighting in the plinths adds a soft glow, easily controlled by the main switch. The soft blue and oak colour palette complements the space, making this wardrobe both functional and beautiful.

This project is a perfect example of the quality and craftsmanship that Baobab Carpentry is known for. Whether you’re looking for Bedroom Fitted Wardrobes or a made-to-measure wardrobe, we can bring your vision to life.

Tunbridge Wells, 2024 - Fitted Wardrobes and Dressing Room
At Baobab Carpentry, we specialise in bespoke wardrobes and custom carpentry. One recent project involved updating a dressing room in a mansion-style home. The clients wanted to replace open shelving with fitted wardrobes that matched the existing cabinetry.

We crafted custom doors to close off the shelving, blending seamlessly with the original design. The result was a flawless integration of old and new, demonstrating how made-to-measure wardrobes can enhance both functionality and style.

Additionally, we designed and built a custom island for the dressing room, creating a luxurious and highly functional space that exceeded the client's expectations.

The clients were so impressed with the quality of our built-in wardrobes and cabinetry and remarked that they could not tell the old and new apart!
Bidborough, 2024 - Fitted Shallow Depth Wardrobes
In this recent bespoke wardrobe design, we created a fitted wardrobe for a reduced-depth alcove that couldn't accommodate a full-depth unit. The space simply wasn’t suitable for traditional built-in wardrobes, and placing a wardrobe that jutted too far into the room wasn't an option due to the room’s shape.

The clients wanted hanging space and shelving without compromising the room's flow. To achieve this, we designed a made-to-measure wardrobe with pull-out hanging rails, allowing the depth to be reduced while still offering ample storage. This solution worked perfectly, maximising space without taking away from the room's overall layout. The wardrobe features 2.4m high doors with large brass handles, creating a sophisticated and elegant look that fits seamlessly into the room.
The clients were absolutely thrilled with the result, delighted by the functionality and beauty of their new Bedroom Fitted Wardrobes.

Rusthall, 2024 - Fitted Bedroom Furniture & Bunk Beds
For this little girl's bedroom, we created a stunning built-in bedroom storage solution that blends beautifully with the space while offering ample storage.

The fitted wardrobe features bespoke doors with rattan-effect detailing, cleverly tucked into the alcove. When the doors open, it reveals a mini walk-in wardrobe complete with hanging rails, floating shelves, and a drawer, making it both practical and stylish.

To optimise space, we designed bespoke bunk beds with full-depth push-to-open drawers underneath, offering fantastic storage for toys, books, and knick-knacks. On the far right, we added an open shelf unit with a cupboard at the bottom, ensuring everything has its place.

By taking up just one wall, we created significant storage while leaving plenty of room for play, fulfilling the family’s vision of a practical yet beautiful space. Painted in a timeless blush pink, this room will grow with the child, lasting well into her teenage years.

The clients were so pleased with the results that they asked us to complete three more projects for them!

Addington, 2024 - White Built-in Wardrobe Wall
One of the most luxurious and complex projects we’ve completed was for a returning client, who wanted a built-in wardrobe like no other.

This custom design features an entire wall of fitted wardrobe doors, cleverly incorporating two sets of doors—one leading to an en-suite and the other to a walk-in wardrobe. The client’s goal was to maximise storage while keeping the design sleek and functional, even housing their TV on the wall.
The middle section of the wardrobe includes three doors that open up, but to ensure a seamless viewing experience, we installed a slide-and-hide system. This innovative design allows the doors to tuck neatly away into the unit when opened, preventing them from obstructing the room. On both the left and right sides of the unit, push-to-open doors lead to the walk-in wardrobe and en-suite.

This bespoke wardrobe is one of the most technically advanced designs we’ve created, tailored to meet the client’s exact specifications and transform their bedroom into a luxurious retreat. We’ve had the pleasure of working with this client on multiple projects, including a cloakroom, a basement, panelled walls, and a dressing room.

We love it when clients return to us for their bespoke furniture needs, and we look forward to future collaborations!
Rusthall, 2024 - Built-in Bedroom Wardrobe
06
At Baobab Carpentry, we specialise in creating bespoke wardrobes that combine style and functionality. For a returning client, we designed fitted wardrobes for their guest room with open storage to serve both as storage for them and a functional guest storage area.

The large double wardrobes included internal drawers, with a spacious bottom drawer for easy access and smaller top cabinets for long-term storage. The design balanced practicality with elegance.

The client requested exposed hinges but with soft-closing doors, so we engineered soft-close hinges and added faux external hinges to complement the shaker-style aesthetic. To break up a large blank wall, we added a shaker end panel for visual interest.

The fitted wardrobes featured oak internals and a spray-finish for durability, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality.

Hawkhurst, 2023 - Fitted Wardrobe and Dressing Room
One of our most challenging built in wardrobe/ dressing room projects to date.
The dressing room has three sloped walls as a result of being a converted loft space. This presented us with many hours of working out how to maximise every inch of space within the fitted wardrobes.
Every built in wardrobe has a sloped back, so the angles of the drawers and the distance of the hanging rails mattered even more than usual. The resulting bespoke wardrobes have surpassed the clients expectation. We also created matching doors leading to the eaves storage space.
A luxurious made to measure dressing area making the most of their newly converted space. Quality and timelessness is at the forefront of all of our projects.

Tunbridge Wells, 2023 - Unique Fitted Wardrobe
This was one of our favourite bedroom wardrobe projects to work on. These unique and wholly amazing fitted wardrobes started out as a design by the clients that included rattan on the doors. Although, possible and beautiful, there were concerns due to moisture reaching the clothing as the wardrobe is near to the en-suite.
After some brainstorming and clever design ideas, we settled on solid doors with metal sheets applied. You can see the birch plywood has been varnished and the aged brass sheets of metal have been bonded to the wood. The beautifully styled Matilda Goad door handles bring the whole design together.
Pictures simply do not do this these fitted quality wardrobes justice. An innovative project, showing just how much can be achieved by having your own made to measure bedroom wardrobes.

Paddock Wood, 2022 - Small Fitted Wardrobes
A great bespoke fitted wardrobe project for a client that was sick of trying to find furniture that fitted in their awkward alcoves and under their sloped ceilings.
We designed these fitted wardrobes to their exact specification, Meaning we could transform their storage space and really utilise every available inch.
The customer was over the moon and we thoroughly enjoyed helping to transform the awkward and unusable space into bedroom storage space that is beautiful and practical.
Our made-to-measure service will take you from wardrobe design to built in wardrobe reality.

Tudeley, 2022 - Built in Wardrobe
A great wardrobe project, with a few challenges.
The client came to us with images from pinterest and ideas of what they wanted to achieve in their bedroom. We brought those ideas to life. We studied the client’s images and sourced the hardware. We created the fitted wardrobes that they had always wanted but weren’t sure would be possible.
With soft close, floor to ceiling doors, brushed brass handles and a totally individualised hanging and drawer layout, the client is over the moon with their purpose made wardrobes.
A great example of how using a local carpenter means you really can create any fitted wardrobe you want.

Tonbridge, 2022 - Bespoke Fitted Wardrobes
A lovely classic floor to ceiling shaker style wardrobe.
We love to create the exact configuration that suits our clients needs. This customer chose full length hanging space, some double hanging space, soft close drawers, push to open internal drawers and we included space for storing toiletries, make up or even space to hang a TV.
The fitted wardrobe is finished off with lovely silvery finish door knobs and a lick of pinky grey paint.
A perfect example of classic timeless built in wardrobes that are made to last.

Coxheath, 2021 - Bedroom Fitted Wardrobes
Another project for a wonderful return client. They have had a handmade kitchen and bespoke wardrobes in their spare and master bedrooms.
A nice floor to ceiling built in wardrobe including drawers and a fitted dressing table. A lovely way to utilise space within a smaller room. On the right hand side of this room there is a an alcove created by dead space above the stairs. We were able to incorporate this odd space into the bespoke wardrobe and now that space can be used as storage.
A big success for a lovely client!
Are Fitted Wardrobes Worth It?
Yes they are! Investing in fitted wardrobes is a smart choice for homeowners looking to enhance their bedroom spaces. Unlike standalone wardrobes, fitted wardrobes are designed to stand the test of time, making them a wise and durable investment.

Fitted wardrobes are not just about style; they prioritise safety. Unlike freestanding wardrobes that can wobble and pose a risk, fitted wardrobes are securely anchored to walls and floors. This provides stability, protecting your loved ones, especially children and pets, from accidents caused by climbing on or toppling over free-standing furniture. Safety is paramount, and fitted wardrobes provide that peace of mind.

Fitted wardrobes are engineered for longevity. Unlike their freestanding counterparts, this rock-solid construction ensures they remain stable and fully functional for many years, providing an enduring storage solution that's worth every penny.

It's true that fitted wardrobes are not as portable as freestanding ones. They can't be easily moved to a different location or taken with you when you move to a new home. However, most homeowners find that when they move, their new space often requires different furniture sizes and styles. Therefore, they prefer leaving or selling their existing furniture.

They are tailor-made to perfectly fit your space, making the most of every nook and cranny. This bespoke approach ensures that even awkward spaces are efficiently utilised, giving your home a touch of sophistication and boosting its market value. According to a study conducted by the house-buying website Zoopla, they can add up to £100k to your house value. This not only underscores the appeal of fitted wardrobes but also highlights their potential for financial gain when it's time to sell your home.

Invest in built in wardrobes to enhance your home's functionality, style, and long-term value, if you are craving organisation why not install under stair storage or a fitted home office.
